DR. GODWIN EJIKEME ABONYI, DVM, MPH, JP – PROFILE
Dr. Godwin Ejikeme Abonyi is a distinguished veterinary public health expert, seasoned public
servant, and development advocate with over three decades of professional experience spanning
government, agriculture, public health, and private sector leadership. A native of Obollo-Etiti in
Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Dr. Abonyi has built a reputation for integrity,
competence, and service to community and national development.
He holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a
Master of Public Health from the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria. He is also a Fellow of the
Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria and has completed professional development
programmes in Global Health Policy, Economic Evaluation, and Monitoring and Evaluation at the
University of Washington, USA.
Dr. Abonyi has served in several key leadership positions in both public and professional institutions.
He was National President of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association from 2016 to 2018,
Executive Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, and Special Adviser to the Governor of Enugu
State on Community and Environmental Health. Between 2018 and 2023, he served as Senior Special
Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State on Food Security and Safety, contributing significantly to
agricultural development and public health initiatives in the state. He currently serves as State
Chairman of the Commodity Alliance Forum under the IFAD/VCDP Agro Project and as a Justice of
the Peace in Enugu State.
A respected professional and community leader, Dr. Abonyi is widely recognized for his contributions
to public health, agriculture, governance, and peacebuilding. He has received numerous awards from
government bodies, professional associations, civil society groups, and faith-based organizations in
recognition of his dedication to service and national development. He is also an author and speaker
with publications and presentations on veterinary public health, food safety, and national
development.
Dr. Abonyi is an active member of several professional and community organizations and has
represented Nigeria at conferences and trade exhibitions across Africa, Europe, Asia, and North
America. His passion for sustainable agriculture, food safety, and economic development continues
to guide his work.
In recognition of his experience, leadership, and commitment to business and economic growth, Dr.
Godwin Ejikeme Abonyi has been elected as a Council Member of the Enugu Chamber of
Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA). His appointment reflects his longstanding
dedication to promoting enterprise, supporting industry as the CEO of PFAME PROJECTS LTD, a commited corporate member of ECCIMA for over a decade.
Dr. Abonyi is married with children and enjoys travelling, attending conferences and exhibitions,
sports, and music. He remains committed to service, innovation, and the advancement of
community and national development.
