State University of Medical Science, Igbo Eno, Enugu

Biography

I am Dr. Ogbonna Chidera Gloria, a passionate scholar and professional in the field of Biochemistry, with deep interests in research, teaching, and laboratory practice. My academic journey has been both challenging and rewarding, shaping who I am today. I earned my Ph.D. in Industrial Biochemistry from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), where I also completed my M.Sc. in Industrial Biochemistry and Biotechnology. Earlier, I obtained my B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu, after completing my secondary education at Federal Government Girls’ College, Lejja, Nsukka and my primary education at Community Primary School, Ugwu na Agbo, Edem Ani.

Over the years, I have been privileged to gather diverse experiences across teaching, research, and laboratory analysis. Currently, I serve as a Lecturer at the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS), Igbo Eno, Enugu State, where I teach, mentor, and inspire young scientists. Before joining SUMAS, I worked as a Chemistry Tutor in the Department of Chemical Pathology and Biochemistry at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, and also as a Laboratory Research Analyst at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku Ozalla, Enugu State. These experiences have greatly shaped my perspective as both a scientist and an educator.

My research interests focus on industrial biochemistry, biotechnology, and applied biochemical research, areas I strongly believe hold the key to solving many of society’s pressing challenges in health, industry, and education. I am particularly driven by the desire to use my knowledge to make a positive impact, not only within the academic community but also in the larger society.

Beyond academics, I value mentorship, personal growth, and service. I believe in guiding students and young professionals to discover their potential, just as my mentors guided me. My journey so far is a testimony of resilience, passion, and faith, and I remain committed to advancing the field of Biochemistry while making meaningful contributions to humanity.
