Biography

Mr. Borlin, Elo-Oghene Martin is a distinguished Nigerian who hails from Onyah in Ndokwa-East Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria. He is a Christian (Catholic), a member of Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Nigeria and a Chorister. He is a professional social worker, academia, planning officer and an ICT administrator, whose career spans across education, social development, and administrative leadership. He is widely recognized for his contributions to the fields of social work, community development, academic planning and ICT, as well as his active involvement in capacity building and institutional growth within the higher education sector. Mr. Borlin is known for his commitment to excellence, ethical conduct, collaborative spirit, and passion for social change. His work is driven by the desire to improve the lives of individuals and communities through sustainable development and inclusive social policies.

Mr. Borlin began his academic journey at Onyukwu Primary School, Onyah in 1989 where He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1994. He attended Onyah Grammar School between 1994-1996 before he was transferred to complete his Secondary Education at St. Michael’s College, Oleh between 1996-2001. His love and passion for education led him to
pursue his tertiary education at University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained a Diploma in Social Work in 2007; a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Social Work in 2010 and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Social Work in 2018 from the same institution. His academic interests later expanded to include Information and Communication Technology (ICT), for which he has obtained several certificates in ICT and Computer Science. Also, Mr. Borlin holds other professional certificate such as Certificate on Entrepreneurship, Human Resource and Leadership in 2011; Training Certificate on Design, Installation, Harvesting and Maintenance of Solar Power System in 2012; Proficiency in Management in 2012; and UNESCO Ethics Teacher Training Certificate awarded in 2017 further solidifying his commitment to ethical standards in social work and academia.

Mr. Borlin is a prolific researcher who has authored and co-authored several academic publications in international and national journal and have attended numerous conferences. His research contributions focus on social justice, community development, maternal and child welfare, psychosocial well-being of older adults, and post-conflict peacebuilding in Nigeria. His research work frequently addresses the challenges faced by vulnerable populations and promotes sustainable solutions through research and social interventions.

Mr. Borlin has heard leadership positions at different stages of his life. He has served as the President of both Elite Social Club of Nigeria and Social Physicians Writers Club (SPWC) between 2009-2010 during his undergraduate study; He is the Chairman, Advertising and Marketing Committee of Reigners Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society.  He is serving as Secretary to different associations and organizations.

Currently, Mr. Borlin serves as a PLANNING OFFICER II in Academic Planning Unit, State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS), Igbo-Eno, Enugu State, Nigeria. In this roles, he contributes to the academic planning, digital and administrative advancement of the University, combining his expertise in ICT with his deep-rooted knowledge of social work.

Mr. Borlin has demonstrated a strong dedication to academic excellence, social advocacy, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of individuals. His practice is based on the principles of services to humanity, social justice, human rights, collective responsibility and respects for diversities. He is committed to excellence, ethical conduct, collaborative spirit, and passion for social change.
